As individuals, we each can play important roles in dismantling structural racism by becoming more aware of our own biases and privileges, educating ourselves about the history and ongoing impacts of racism, and actively working to challenge and disrupt racist attitudes and behaviors in our personal and professional lives. Dismantling structural racism will require collective action and advocacy at all levels of society including, challenging and changing policies and practices that perpetuate racism, such as discriminatory hiring practices, unequal access to healthcare and education, and a complete overall of the way we police and weaponize the criminal justice systems in sentencing people from Black and Brown communities.
